Hosie Fuller Obituary

Hosie Fuller Hosie Fuller, 87, a retired carpet and tile installer, died Sunday, Feb. 25, 2007. The service will be at 11 a.m. EST Saturday at First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, with burial at Riverview Memorial Park. Elder Eldrew Baldwin will officiate. Richardson's Family Funeral Care (850-576-4144) in Tallahassee is handling arrangements. Friends may sign the guest register at www.richardsoncares.org. Hosie Fuller was born Jan. 12, 1920, in Tifton, Ga., the son of the late Owen W. and Eria Fuller. Hosie relocated to Fort Pierce in 1946. He was a member of First Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. In March 2005, he relocated to Tallahassee to live with his daughter and son-in-law. He later joined Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee. He served in the U.S. Army and battled in World War II. Hosie was recognized Nov. 12, 1993, as the first black self-employed carpet and tile installer in Fort Pierce. He retired from this profession in 1985. He was a member of American Legion Post 171 in Fort Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna Pearl Fuller; two daughters, Altemese Fuller Smith (and Blaine) of Tallahassee and Corine Wade (and Robert) of Fort Pierce; a sister, Rodean Fuller of Long Island, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Sylvester Bush (and Aretha) of Newark, N.J.; five granddaughters, Eboni Mims and Carmen Mims, both of Orlando, Jonea Smith-Reeves (and Tabari) of Fitchburg, Wis., and Sharonda Quillett (and Reginald) and Jasmine Je'naye, both of Orlando; five grandsons, Michon Harrington of Orlando, Torrey Pettigrew (and Keisha) of Lake Mary and Ariel Pettigrew, Angeles and Shenita Youngs, all of Fort Pierce; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
