To Dr. Furlow's family,
I met you guys at Jesse's medical school graduation, "Ava(from New Orleans) and James". Jesse was truly my mentor and a big sister I could look up to when Rochester racism was fierce for many of the Black medical students. She was so bright and smart , they could not break or stop her. I admired her so and she always kept everything in a positive levelhead light. When James died in 1977 , Jesse was still right there , giving me strength and hope. She stayed in touch checking on me when everyone else was gone. When I read the article in the newspaper about all of her accomplishments and activities , it did not surprise me because that is what Rochester and many others saw in her way back when. She was always a very special, loving "heavyweight , dynamite lady". I will never be able to speak of those Rochester days without remembering Jesse. My deepest sympathy to the family, especially her mom , daddy and sisters. God has one of our precious angels.

While visiting family members in Memphis over the 4th of July, I was told of a remarkable story. My brother-in-law, who resides in Orlando, is a former Quincy resident. He and my sister shared this wonderful article about Dr. Furlow. I don't know how they knew she was from Memphis, or that she had attended Manassas, but she was. I checked my yearbook, and indeed she was a former classmate. I may not have known her personally, but it makes me proud to know that our teachers and principal had instilled such values in us as, excellence and superior performance. That, from my reading, was the essence of Dr. Jessie V. Furlow.

I met Dr. Furlow in 1982, when I had the priviledge to work with her at Gadsden Memorial. She was indeed every woman. Full of life and lots of fun. She had knowledge that the average person could not imagine yet she was down to earth, she was a diamond in the rough. I could truely call her friend. We celebrated our birthdays together and went on several vacations together. She will be missed by all and certainly by all that called her friend. Jessie was a Life well Lived. A Life well-lived is a precious gift of hope and strenght and grace from someone who has made our world a brighter, better place, It's filled with moments sweet and sad, with smiles and sometimes tears, with friendships formed and good times shared and laughter through the years. A LIFE WELL-LIVED is a LEGACY of joy and pride and pleasure, a loving, lasting memory my grateful heart will treasure.I will miss my friend. With heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Georgia, Katherine, Patty and family as we remember a life well-lived.

Dr. Furlow, truly an angel sent from God. I met Dr. furlow 8 years ago and she was an inspiration to my life. Any time I needed a friend to talk too all I had to do was call. She was my doctor, my mentor, and my friend. She was a God sent that helped me through many tough times and situations. I will truly miss our conversations and time spent together. Nevertheless, she will be missed, but I will always have her close to my heart.

It is with great sorrow that one of the greatest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing has been taken from us. I can not say enough wonderful things about Dr. Jessie. She was one person I could trust my life with and know she had my best interest at heart. There are not enough good people in this world and Dr. Jessie was truly one of them. I will miss her but feel blessed to have had the privilege of knowing her both as my physician and a friend. My sympathy goes out to her family, they have lost a gem.

To the Family, I want to say Thank God For the memories. Jessie V. touched many lives in many ways. She would look at you and give you a smile. At this time we must remember that God's timing is what is important. He has removed another flower from the garden here on earth and place it in the garden of peace and joy. Mourn now but don't forget that God is a God of peace not confusion. Jessie V. is at peace and resting in our father's house. Take this time and remember to always be kind and loving to each other because we have an appointed time as well.

Having met Dr. Jessie Furlow almost six years ago at my interview with North Florida Medical Centers, Inc., I had no idea how much of an impact that she would have on my life...and the lives of so many others. She truly lived her life as Jesus wants us all to do, helping and loving one another without any regard to color or social status. She so unselfishly dedicated her life to making this world a better place and I, for one, feel indeed honored that I can call her "friend."
The simplest things in life made you happy, Dr. Furlow...from coffee, pickles and chocolate, these made you smile.
I feel that I'm a better person, just from having known you. I rejoice in knowing that you are now with the love of your life, your dear Sol. I pray comfort to your loving family...we will miss you deeply.

Dr. Furlow was indeed a remarkable woman...She never believed herself to be better than anyone else.No matter where she was she knew you and had time to stop and talk.I had the honor of working with her at Gadsden Memorial and she was the ONLY doctor I ever saw cry when she lost a patient...Her sense of humor was priceless;her friendship beyond measure.Dr. Furlow was my matron of honor at my wedding 18 years ago. I can hear her now standing behind me crying and sniffling..I told her to stop that before I started and no one could hear the preacher! She was a doctor that put her patients ahead of herself. Even when she needed an oxygen tank to breathe she was still seeing patients! I know the people of Gadsden county were blessed to have been touched by this remarkable lady...God Bless You Dr. Jessie...

To the family of Dr. Jessie Furlow, May God continue to keep and comfort you as only He can. It is always hard to let go of a loved one, no matter how young or old, but as long as you keep your love for her in your heart, she will always be close to you. She is with her heavenly Father now where she feels no pain or suffering. So cry as you must but remember weeping only endures for a night and joy comes in the morning, for that joyous day will come when you will meet her again. Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night. I had the honor of knowing Dr.Furlow for 24 years. She treated me and several of my family members through the years.
I also had the privilege of working with her for about 7-8 years of that time.
She was an angel on earth without a doubt.
She was the first to help anyone who needed help. There were no barriers with Dr.Furlow. If you could pay the doctor bill that was fine. If you couldn't, that was fine too. She turned no one away.
It is by the grace of God that she ended up in Gadsden county. That is where she was needed so very much.
We have lost a great one and none of us will soon forget.
I trust that immediately upon her passing there was a pair of angel wings awaiting her.
She was much loved and respected here on earth and I know in my heart that she will be much loved and respected in heaven.
We will miss you Dr.J.
We all love you.
Thank you for everything you did to make life in Gadsden county better.
Love,
