Johnny, a great friend of my youngerr sister Carolyn's (and of Tricia Ingraham next door), was my favorite "little guy" on Brookwood Rd. in the '40's and '50s. Every Xmas I'd go over to his house to see his "haul," stopping off to play any games he'd gotten. And thruout the year we played football, red light, or stitch-starch in my front yard, and in the summers we'd often take him with us for a day at the beach. Boy, I'll miss him. Wish I'd had the chance to tell him how much I cared before he passed.

So sad to hear of Johnny's passing. Yvonne, I am sure you will hear from many of us who grew up together from Hendricks Avenue School to Landon. It wasn't mutual, but Johnny was my first "crush". He will always be remembered as a true gentleman with a quiet demeanor. Rest in peace, Johnny, while you watch over your loved ones. Sandra (Perritt) Skousen

Johnny was one of the nicest people I knew during our years together at Landon. He was a true gentleman whom everybody liked and respected. Ingrid and I send our condolences to his family.

Johnny was my best friend across the street on Brookwood Rd. I thought of him as a brother. We walked to school on our first day at Hendricks Ave. Went to the beach and mountains with my parents. Exchanged gifts at Christmas and birthdays. His mom fed us lunch as we played Canasta on his screened porch. I am grateful to have had such a good friend growing up but am sad he is gone. My deepest sympathy to Yvonne and Andrea.

Yvonne,

Johnny and I were together from about the third grade in Hendricks Ave. Elem. School through graduation for Landon HS. We played baseball together on the Jacksonville Jr. Braves in the 5th and 6th grade. He was always a kind, gentle and true friend. Our prayers are with you and your family.

I am so sad to hear of John's passing. John and I were friends in Jacksonville from the age of 10. We lived about a quarter mile apart in San Marco. I remember both of us learning to drive as teenagers. I lost contact with John and I am so sad at his passing.

A great friend in my years at Gordon whom I wish I had seen much more of in the years after those. I visited with John and his Dad in Jacksonville and felt true friendship with John all through our years at Gordon. John will be remembered as one of the best people I ever knew. My condolences to the Weems family.
