Leonard McCroan Obituary

Leonard McCroan, Jr. Leonard McCroan, Jr., 79, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010, in Dothan, Ala. Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. CDT Friday, April 30, 2010, at Altha First Baptist Church, Altha, Fla., with burial at MT. Olive Cemetery. J.L was born in Jackson County on September 26, 1930, and had lived in Calhoun County for most of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Air Force. Mr. McCroan was director of the local ASCS office in Blountstown serving Calhoun, Liberty and Franklin Counties. J.L. received his bachelor's degree in forestry at the University of Florida in Gainesville. "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank god that such men lived." (George S. Patton) Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Clara McCroan of Altha, Fla.; two sons, Dan McCroan and his wife, Melanie of Marianna, Fla., Randy McCroan and his wife, Treva of Blountstown, Fla.; two daughters, Gwen Wells and her husband, Richard of Dothan, Ala., and Terry Soltis and her husband, Ed of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; one brother, Kenneth Roger McCroan of his wife, Katherine of Montgomery, Ala.; one sister, Patricia Ayers and her husband, Gene of Altha, Fla.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Peavy FH, 674-2266, is handling arrangements.

Mr. J.L. was a fine man. I recently enjoyed his company while eating breakfast at the Wildcat Den in Altha. My deepest sympathy to all his family. May GOD continue to bless your lives.
