Marion Clouser Obituary

Marion Estelle Clouser

Tallahassee - Marion Estelle (nèe Collins) Clouser, 88, of Tallahassee, peacefully passed away into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday evening, December 31, 2018, while surrounded by loving family.

The eldest child of the late Homer B. Collins, Sr., and the late Anne Knighten Collins, Marion was born on September 23, 1930, in Old Hickory, Nashville, Tennessee. Inducted into Phi Sigma Iota for advanced studies of the French language, Marion graduated from Vanderbilt University and began teaching primary education; first in Atlanta, Georgia, and then in Orlando, Florida. Marion was an active member of the Concord Street Church of Christ in Orlando, where she married James ("Jim") Golden Clouser. The couple lived in Orlando for 16 years, moved briefly to Bowling Green, Kentucky, and settled in Tallahassee in 1999. Marion became the family historian, preserving the stories of both the Collins and Clouser families from the early 1800's. She also enjoyed writing poetry, painting, and searching antique stores for treasures with her daughters and granddaughter.

Marion is survived by her husband, James Golden Clouser; children, Lori Lynn Jobe (husband, James), Holly Ann Howard (husband, Martin) and James Collins Clouser; and granddaughter, Sadie Lynn Gruber (daughter of Lori and Darryl Gruber). Also surviving are siblings, Bob Collins, of Tennessee and Jane Kirby, of Kentucky.

A private family service will be held at Tallahassee National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to Big Bend Hospice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.abbeyfh.com.

I miss my big SISTER, she has a special place in my heart. She was a teacher long before she went to Vanderbilt and got her first official job in education, in Nashville, TN. As far back as I can remember, "Sister" would get me books , so she could teach me to "read", "rite", and do "rithmetic", the three (3) "R,s". She taught me to like and enjoy learning, and I believe that followed me throughout my education. I miss Sister, but I believe that I will see her again, with Becky, Buddy, Son, and Mother and Daddy.
