Marlene Farrell Obituary

Marlene C. Carman Farrell

Marlene C. Carman Farrell, 56, of Tallahassee, passed away on Thursday, July 10th of 2014. Born in Philadelphia, Pa on August 27th, 1958 and the oldest of four children of Kenneth J. Carman and Marlene Charles. After meeting and marrying her high school sweetheart and late husband of 35 years John M Farrell and living in Levittown, Pa they decided to pack up and migrate south. They arrived at their destination of Tallahassee, where she worked as a substance counselor for incarcerated men and women. When they decided the time was right they wanted to expand their family to three. They decided to adopt a baby girl from Homestead, Fl. In November of 1993 they welcomed the third member, Melissa J. Farrell to the family. When they added her their lives changed for good. Marlene helped her through 14 years of Girl Scouts and schooling and John ran her to sports and karate class.

Marlene had a huge heart to help whoever was in need and old soul. She will be deeply loved and missed bv all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband John Farrell, mother Marlene June (Charles), her father Kenneth Carman, sister Cheryl Crilly (Carman). She survived through her daughter Melissa J. Farrell, her sister Lisa Carman Bruck (Earl), brother Ken Carman, her stepmother Margaret Carman and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be July 24,2014 at Bevis Funeral Home (2710 N Monroe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303). There will be a visitation at 5:30 pm and the funeral will follow at 6:30 pm. Elizabeth Chambers of Bevis Funeral Home (850-385-2193, www.bevisfh.com) is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Melissa and friends/family are in my thoughts. Both John and Marlena were heavily involved in Melissa's education while at SAIL, and were integral to her success. Stay strong, Melissa.

You were a strong, stubborn woman who would do anything to help her friends and family. Thank you for being my second mom.

My dear friend, Marlene, you will be truly missed. I will miss our talks together catching up on our lives and things. Even though we lived far apart, it felt like we were close to each other. You will always be close to my heart. Rest in peace. Love you always, Gina & family
