Edward, family and Melynda's many many friends - A dear friend Melynda and I shared told me of Melynda's death. I have been celebrating Melynda's life through the many notes, poems and art she gave to me. I have cherished these gifts for many years. My heart is heavy. Melynda's kind and gentle way touched so many. Melynda Reid will always be remembered with great love.

Dr Flatt, Kathy, and family I don't know, I just learned of your loss from my family in Athens. I am so sorry for your loss. I have many great memories of growing up across Broomsedge Trail from her and visiting your home frequently in our high school and college years to play the latest hit albums. Although we grew up and each left Athens behind I think of you all, and Melynda in particular, every time I pass your home when I'm back in town to visit my parents. God Bless you in this time and give you peace.

Edward, our love and thoughts are with you as they have been since Melynda became ill. I'm so glad I was able to spend a little time with her at Hospice House before she passed. I will always cherish the many cards with her artwork that she sent me over the years.

Dear Bill, my sincere condolences for the passing of your daughter. I did not have the pleasure of knowing her, but since the genes came from two great persons, I have no doubt that she was an outstanding individual. Gilles

Melynda was always an inspiration to others, and an unwavering source of creativity and support for causes and people she believed in. Knowing and working closely with her for just 2 years some 26 years ago before moving to Atlanta, she is someone I have always thought about, and long wondered how she was doing. I am so sorrowed to hear of her passing, and my sincere condolences go out to her family and friends.

I was very suprised to hear about Melynda's death. I have not seen or heard from her in about 30 years, but she was a part of a time that was very important for me. It was a time of which I'm certain we had many happy memories in common. We were both once a part of a group of people that called themselves Asylum Theatre, an association which, I'm sure, has always been a source of pride for both of us as well as those few others who claim it.
