Merritt Atchley Obituary
Merritt Clinton "Clint"Atchley, 38, of Clearwater, Florida died December 24, 2014. He worked for Publix for almost 20 years and most recently at the Publix at Sunset Point and Belcher in Clearwater. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was an Eagle Scout and a lifetime member of the NRA. Clint enjoyed playing games with friends and spending time with his wife and daughters at Disney. He is survived by his wife, Kimberly and their two daughters Madelyn and Chloe of Clearwater; mother and father, Laura and Cleve Atchley of Tallahassee, Florida; brother, Matthew and his wife, Patricia Atchley and their children, Simon, Mason and Laney of Tallahassee, Florida; sisters, Chaille' Atchley and Marie Atchley of Tallahassee, Florida; grandparents, Cliff and Ruth Atchley of Pell City, Alabama; mother and father-in-law, Kathy and Bill Oalmann of Clearwater, Florida; sister-in-law Kaitlyn and her husband Sam Morkus and their daughter Duniyah of Clearwater, Florida; and sister-in-law Kelsey Oalmann and her sons, Davin and Demetri of Winfield, Illinois. A friends and family gathering will be held on Jan 1st, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (312 Stadium Dr, Tallahassee, FL 32304) from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Memorial services will be held at the Hubbell Funeral Home (499 N Indian Rocks Rd., Belleair Bluffs, FL 33770) at 1:00pm on Sunday, January 4th, 2015. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a special account at Bank of America for Clint's two lovely daughters. Contact family for account details.

With my heartfelt sorrow and as a Publix family member for 20 years also, my heart go's out to Kimberly his wife as I just found out about this tragic event. I will keep her close in my prayer everyday . I am deeply saddened for her and her family.

For 8+ I frequented the Publix Clint worked at. Having gone there 3-5x a week for the last 8+ years I've spoken with Clint 100's of times...always a very kind, honest & great to talk with. ALWAYS treated everyone with genuine kindness. I met his daughter last year as he was pushing her in the very same Publix in her stroller..It was obvious he was a great Father..anyhow I was stunned to learn of this tragedy and his untimely passing..God Bless you Clint! May the LORD embrace your wife, your kids, your family and your Publix family. You'll be missed...

I am so sorry for your loss. My favorite memory of Clint was the day we had an in-depth discussion of the pros & cons of Kraft Mac & Cheese, of all things. He was an amazing person - always had a smile and a kind word for anyone he crossed paths with. May God be your close companion who walks beside you in your time of grief, and carries your burden when it's too heavy to bear.

Clint was such a great example of what a Godly man should be. We are deeply saddened by your loss and are keeping you and your family in our prayers. Rick was very fond of Clint and I'm sure they are discussing Scouting, geeky stuff, and the love of family.
