Paul Scranton Obituary

Paul A. Scranton Sr. Paul A. Scranton Sr., 83, died Friday, July 21, 2006. The service will be at 2 p.m. EDT today at Westminster Oaks Parry Center Chapel. Fairchild Funeral Home (850-386-8686) is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, 2015 Fleischmann Road, Tallahassee, FL 32308, or St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 9801 Bonita Beach Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. A native of Huntington, W. Va., he lad lived in Tallahassee since 2000. Mr. Scranton was a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church. He was a lieutenant junior grade in the U.S. Navy Reserve, having served in World War II. He was a special agent in the FBI for 24 years and was a member of the Radio Reading Service (read news on the radio for the blind). Survivors include his wife of 62 years, C. Barbara Scranton; two sons, Paul A. Scranton Jr. (and wife Patty) of Tallahassee and Douglas Jay Scranton (and wife Diana) of Petaluma, Calif.; two daughters, Virginia Elizabeth Hazen (and husband Bob) of Altamonte Springs and Kathleen Lyle Babcock (and husband Lyman) of Tallahassee; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren and two more expected. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Lyle Anderson; a brother, William F. Scranton Jr.; and a grandson, Matthew Ryan Babcock.
