Rex B. Kirby, Sr.

Rex B Kirby, Sr. passed away January 1, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Kirby, and a son, Doug Kirby.

Survivors include his three children; Nicki West (Terry West) of Tallahassee, Cindy Miller (Andy Miller) of Tallahassee, and Rex Kirby, Jr. of West Palm Beach; two stepsons, Patrick Cartledge of Tallahassee and Tim Cartledge; two daughters-in-law, Valerie Cartledge and Michele Kirby; twelve grandchildren, Shannon Kahn, Drew Miller, Matt Miller, Rachel Kirby, Christina Kirby, Rex Kirby III, Ashley Cartledge Taylor, Taylor West Sherrod, Casey Cartledge Yorks, Austyn West, Mayson West and TJ West; and five great-grandchildren.

Rex attended Florida State University where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He joined the Democrat as a printer in the early 1950s and was there until the early 1970s. He then joined Southeastern Surgical Supply, now known as American Home Patient Care where he opened and managed the retail store for patient care. In the mid 80's Rex started his own patient care business, Medical Care Home Supplies, located in TMH and was there until he retired.

The funeral is 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Abbey Funeral Home, with interment at Roselawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 until 11:00 AM Wednesday, at the funeral home. The online guestbook is at www.abbeyfh.com.
