Richard E. Brainard Jr. BOKEELIA - Richard E. Brainard Jr., 59, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Waterside memorial services were Saturday at his residence, 16291 McNeff Road, Bokeelia. Jennings Funeral Home & Crematory in Sarasota (941-926-2223) handled arrangements. He was born Oct. 10, 1945, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He had resided in Nantucket Island, Mass., Breckenridge, Colo., Sarasota and Bokeelia. He was a very successful ultramarathon runner and ran in marathons all over the country, including the Boston Marathon. He completed 47 marathons, ultramarathons and other races. He is survived by a sister, Linda Brainard of Tallahassee; a brother, Travis Brainard of Bokeelia; a sister-in-law, Ava Brainard; a niece, Sarah Brainard of Bountiful, Utah; a son, Britton; his grandchildren; an aunt, Jean Harris of Essex, Conn.; and many lifelong friends around the country.
