Thomas L. Brown

Deacon Thomas L. Brown, transitioned to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017. A native of Fowlstown, Georgia born on May 13, 1940 he was the fifth child of the late Ophelia Peterson Brown and late Samuel Hobson Brown, Sr. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings. He graduated from Attapulgus-Mt Moriah High School in 1960. He attended Florida A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and Journalism and Masters in Education with an emphasis in English. For 35 years he worked for the Florida Department of Transportation as a Writer Information Specialist; then in Personnel Management, retiring in June 2003. He was a member of True Fellowship Church Holiness Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Worship Leader and Prayer Leader. He also attended Faith Christian Family Center, the sister church of True Fellowship Holiness Church with his wife.

Deacon Brown leaves to treasure and preserve his legacy: his supportive wife of 41 years; Shirley Jackson Brown; A son, Shelton (Twanna) Brown, two daughters, Tammy Brown (Kere) Williams and Angela Brown; A special niece like a daughter, Sha'Rhonda Brown, a dedicated nephew like a son, Eric Brown; A niece who was like a sister, Jennie (Eddie) March; a very special great-nephew Charles Brown, Jr.; and Veronica Williams who was like a daughter. 15 Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and sorrowing friends.

The following services will be held; Family and Friends Visitation will be held at True Fellowship Holiness Church located at 123 FAMU Way, Tallahassee, FL on Friday, December 1, from 6:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. The Homegoing Celebration will be held at Faith Christian Family Center located at 310 Laura Lee Avenue, Tallahassee, FL, with Bishop Howard F. McMillian, Officiating Saturday, December 2, at 11:00 A.M. with burial immediately following at Southside Cemetery.
