Tom Warner Obituary

Tom Warner

Stuart - Former State Representative and Solicitor General Tom Warner passed away at his home in Stuart, Florida, on January 11, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Warner represented District 82 in the State House from 1992 until 1999. He quickly assumed leadership roles, chairing the House Judiciary Committee, the Civil Justice Council, and the Procedural Council. In 1999, then Attorney General Bob Butterworth appointed Tom to be the first Solicitor General of Florida, where he served for three years. In that position he also served as a Visiting Professor at The Florida State University College of Law. In 2002, he joined the law firm of Carlton Fields where he practiced civil litigation and appellate law until his passing. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his children Susan, Patricia (Francois), and Edward (Blandine); his grandchildren Luce, Sierra, Claire, and Margaux; and his sister Anne Fernandez. A celebration of Tom's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at the Tuckahoe Terrace, Indian Riverside Park, 1707 NE Indian River Drive, Jensen Beach, Florida.

Peace and Prayers to the Warner Family. Many stories form cooking Pig with his Dad and Fishing in the Everglades, Oh
and his High Top Football Shoes when at Gables High Football. A real friend and and True Gentleman. We had a lot of fun. He was so smart do not believe he ever had to crack a book. Plenty of stories to tell. He was loved by all that he came in contact with.

I was saddened by the passing of Tom. We were neighbors of the Warner family and remember baby sitting his sister Anne. His list of accomplishments were impressive. My mother, Barbara followed his career with interest given she and his mother were best of friends. My thoughts are with you.

Tom Warner was one of the finest legislators I have ever known. I missed him greatly when he left the House of Representatives. Though I did not see often him after that, I have an abiding memory of the strength of his service and his friendship. It must be said he did his part faithfully and fully for the citizens of Florida.
