Torres LeBrun Obituary

Torres ("Ted") F. LeBrun

Torres ("Ted") F. LeBrun passed away from natural causes after suffering a debilitating stroke on November 18, 2016. He died on Christmas Eve at the home of a close friend, surrounded by a small group of family and friends.

He was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and was raised in the small coastal community of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. He attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School, and was taught by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart. After briefly flirting with the idea of becoming a priest, he decided to become a scientist. He later received his Bachelors of Science in Physics at Florida State University. He was noted for his iconoclastic style in dress and speech, and for his genius in inventing and solving advanced mechanical problems. He later went on help the well-known writer, naturalist and environmental activist Jack Rudloe, whom he had met and befriended at FSU, set up his highly successful aquarium and acclaimed research facility (the Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory) in Panacea, Florida.

Torres worked for several years at the Florida Department of Natural Resources (DNR), in various capacities. He later worked in the Florida Office of the Governor as a disaster planner.

Torres is survived by his son, Torres Rosas ("T.R.") LeBrun. He also leaves behind many loving friends. He is predeceased by his father Francis LeBrun and his mother Eliska Marie Torres LeBrun.

More details about the time and place of a memorial service will be posted on http://www.forevermissed.com/torres-francis-lebrun/#about .

I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. May you look to God for help. He will never allow your foot to slip. God is guarding you. He is the shade at your right hand. Call on him in your distress for help and he will answer you. (Psalms 121:1-8). Your family and friends have my deepest condolences.

To say that Torres was a special man is a vast understatement. I worked with him many years ago and was always impressed by his style, his compassion and his willingness to stick to task and his willingness to share. Go rest in Gods arms, Torres. Peace to your family!
