William Robert "Bobby" Goodgame

William Goodgame Obituary

William Robert (Bobby) Goodgame, age 57, died unexpectedly at his apartment in Tallahassee August 3. He was born in Alabama and spent his early childhood in Tallahassee. He resided in Gainesville and Marianna before returning to Tallahassee in 1974. Bobby made and kept many friends in the Tallahassee area. He attended the First Baptist Church in Tallahassee for many years. Members will remember the man with the big brown paper bag containing pot holders he had made on his small loom. Friends across the country were fortunate recipients of these durable and colorful pot holders. Special among his friends were Mrs. Jackie Rennick King and Mr. Harry Mitchell and their families. Sara Pankaskie was Bob?s friend and advocate for most of his adult life, and Liz Kelly worked with and for Bobby for many years. His friends in Tallahassee honored him with a party on July 29 to recognize all his accomplishments. At times, Bobby shared his life experiences by speaking about what it meant to live independently to college classes in special education and rehabilitation and at state, regional, and national conferences. Everyone who met or worked with Bobby will remember him and the lessons they learned from him. He always tried to be more on his own and "do better." He would not say, "I?ll do good," but he never stopped trying. He will be greatly missed. A fund is being established to help other people who, like Bobby, want to be more on their own and do better. Contributions may be sent to Sara Pankaskie at 1459 Wyn Cove Drive, Vero Beach, Florida and made out to the "Bobby?s Fund."
