Winifred Cherry Obituary

Winifred Williams Cherry MADISON - Winifred Williams Cherry, 79, died Thursday, March 31, 2005, in Tallahassee. The service will be at 2 p.m. EDT Sunday at Beggs Funeral Home Madison Chapel (850-973-2258). Family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. EST today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. She was born in Lee on June 12, 1925, to William James and Gladys Bernice Williams. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and a member of First United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Audrey Newmans Circle and Keenagers at the Methodist Church. Survivors include three sons, John M. Cherry Jr. (and wife Gloria) of Tallahassee, Keith B. Cherry (and wife Pam) of Jacksonville and Bill Cherry (and wife Becky) of Ocala; a brother, Herbert B. Williams of Daytona Beach Shores; a sister, Evelyn Smith of Missoula, Mont.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Cherry Sr.; a daughter, Mary Ann "Sissy" McClune; and a brother, Julian Williams.

I knew Winifred when I was pastor of Pinetta Baptist Church. We had many fine talks together. She was a loving and gracious lady. My love and prayers to the family.
