A. BWAYO Obituary

BWAYO, AJ Rev. Peter age 55, passed away June 24, 2014. Fr. Peter, a member of the Religious Missionary Order of the Apostles of Jesus, was born in Muyembe, Uganda, East Africa and ordained a priest Oct. 22, 1989. He came to the United States in 1994. He received a Master's Degree in Divinity in 1996 from Maryknoll University in New York and a Master's Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. He served at parishes in Brooklyn, NY, then came to the Diocese of St. Petersburg in 2002, serving many parishes in the Tampa Bay area. He served as Chaplain in Pastoral Care Ministry at St. Joseph's Hospital and the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital, both in Tampa. Fr. Peter is survived by two brothers, Matthew and Clement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations at (http://www.gofundme.com/abs8no) to continue Fr. Peter's efforts to support the orphaned children in his village of Mbale. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to St. Lawrence Parish, 5225 N. Himes Avenue, Tampa, FL 33614, where services will be held. Reception of the body & visitation will be Monday, June 30, from 4-7 pm, followed by Evening Prayer at 7 pm. A viewing will take place Tuesday July 1, from 4-7 pm, with Funeral Mass at 7 pm.
