Dear Andy! I miss you everyday of my life! You left in 2014. Almost 10 years ago and I still can't believe you are gone! I wish that you were here! Thank you for the love and support. You always told me that no matter what happened to us in life that you will always stay by my side and take care of me. I sometimes believe that you still come around. I hear a noise, or a whisper in the wind and believe that you are there. Thank you for your love. God bless you always!

Andy! My dear! I have been feeling so sad and helpless lately! I cry a lot and stay by myself trying not to get sick. I see so many people dying and I am not able to help anyone! I am frozen in fear! I think of you and thank God that you did not have to see how this Pandemia is hurting so many of our loved ones. I wanted you to know that I miss you so much! Before I go to sleep I think of you and feel your presence in my room giving me the peace I need to fall asleep. I think a lot and I have a lot of sleepless nights but when I think of you, I calm myself down and I can almost hear you telling me that everything is going to be ok. I miss you! Sending lots of hugs and all my love! God bless you!

Andy I am so sorry to see you go so soon. We used to talk for hours about your days growing up in Brooklyn, your pitching career for the Pirates, and your moments as an Umpire. You will be missed, but you are now with your old friends. Shag Crawford, Al Barlick, Frank Pulli, and many other great umpires. God Bless you.

I worked with Andy both in the Pacific Coast League and the National League. Andy was not only an excellent
umpire, but a class act both on the field and off the field.
A true gentleman and a pleasure to share time with.

As long as there are umpires, Andy will be fondly remembered. I met him when I was in the minor leagues and watched him work at old Crosley Field. He was always nice to me and interested as to where I was working and how the career was going. I wish more current MLB umpires had the pleasure of knowing him and seeing how he conducted himself......he was a true professional and an even better person,

It is very hard to describe the way you love and admire someone when your heart still can not accept the fact that they have passed away. Andy taught me many things. Patience, love, integrity and passion. His kindness, his sweetness, the spark of his eyes when he looked at me,will forever live in my heart and memory. I will miss him more than anyone will ever know. When I cherish our moments of joy and the countless hours we sat together. My hands feel empty when I can't find him to hold. When I see his favorite place to sit. When I cook his favorite dish oh yes! I will miss him! However I know when is my time to go, we will be together again. God bless you Andy! Rest in peace darling man!

Andy personified the word "CLASS". I always enjoyed working with Andy during Spring Training as he always treated everyone with kindness and respect.
Andy will surely have the wind at his back, as he sails into Heaven.

I was fortunate to come into the National league as a young umpire and was able to get to know Andy. One of the nicest and gentlest people I have met in my lifetime. He personified class and dignity and was a true big leaguer. May the heavens open up the seas for you and the wind be always at your back.
Smooth sailing my friend, you will be truly missed!

Worked with Andy '61 Northern
'75 NL. Integrity, honesty & class, nobody like him solid as a rock both physically and on the field. You were in good hands with Andy Olsen as a partner. You'll be sorely missed my friend, rest in peace.

I sure admire all the men who did the job before I even thought of doing it as a little league umpire. My dad would talk to me about the umpires in Cuba also in MLB. I knew of him but never met him. I'm sure I would've enjoyed him for we have two things in common that are passions of mine, boating and umpiring. For Andy and all the men that worked before me...Thank you for paving the road! God Bless Mr. Olsen and all that you sacrificed during your tenure.

I never met Andy Olsen; however, throughout my very impressionable young minor league days I heard nothing but class descriptions from anyone who spoke of a National League Umpire named Andy Olsen.

Andy was one of the 1st umpires I recognized by name when I started umpiring. I would sign some of our fast pitch softball teams scorebook using NL umpires names that I knew. Andy's name was one I used.
Rest in Peace Andy! Smooth seas ahead.

MLB umpires will always remember Andy and the umpires who came before us. It is because of men like Mr. Olsen that umpiring is such a great profession. We will honor his memory by continuing to strive for excellence on the field! May The Lord Bless You and Keep You!

I met Andy for the first time as a minor league umpire in St. Petersburg, FL. He treated me and everyone he ever met as a Big Leaguer. I always enjoyed working spring training with Andy. We need more Andy Olsens in this world. Rest in peace, Andy.

Andy Olsen will be greatly missed by those of us who knew him well. An excellent partner on the field, a true gentleman off the field. He had a funny sense of humor and he was fun to be with. Joy and I are saddened to hear of his passing. Fair winds and smooth seas, Andy.

Karen and I recently attended the memorial service for Andy held at the Gulfport Yacht Club. It was hosted by his long time friend Bill West and Carol and Cliff Polk. Andy had no surviving relatives but it was very clear that his friends who gathered there were his extended family. Friends he sailed with, his neighbors and friends he shared morning coffee with. It was a warm and loving tribute to a good umpire and a kind, loving man. It was a trip we are glad we made. Joe and Karen Brinkman

Andy Olsen may not have any surviving relatives, but he will not be forgotten by his family of fellow umpires. He worked the 1971 Major League All-Star game at Tiger Stadium, and his memory will live on among those of us who appreciate his stalwart service to our National Pastime.
