Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Anthony W. Simmons US Army Private 1st Class. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Bubba,
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. I display your photos in my house and vehicle with pride, and pray that when someone rides in the car with me or comes into my home that they will ask about you and Nic so I can brag on you both. I've missed you so much, and the pain of your loss still feels as fresh as it did the morning dad called me and told me you were no longer here with us. I am so proud of the amazing man you had became, and while I don't necessarily understand why God took you from us so soon, I do know that He had His own reasons. I pray that you serve well in His Army, and you keep watch over all of us. I love you so very much.
Love always,

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Hey Ant! I went by your resting place the other day to talk for a bit beacuse you could always put a smile on my face and I really needed one at the moment. Well when I pulled up and looked over at you I saw a fox sitting next to you, he looked back at me and did not move. He was beautiful and it gave me the smile I was in need of. Thanks you for that! Its still unreal at times that you are really gone. You are so missed! I will come again for another smile and talk soon. Later Love!

You were a loving son, a wonderful brother, an amazing friend, and a true American Soldier. Not a day has gone by that you have not crossed my mind. To the family of Anthony - My prayer is that this poem I wrote will comfort you. It is: FALLEN HEROES - From the time I was conceived God had for me a plan. He wanted me to get involved to help my fellow man. I know some were against it but God knows what is best and since the day He took me home I've had perfect rest. Heaven is so beautiful I'm walking streets of gold. Now I'm serving others including saints of old. I know some still have anger about the way I died yet God and I both have seen the many tears you've cried. He is a God of comfort whose love will never cease. Give your feelings to Him and He will give you peace. As difficult as it may be please don't hold a grudge. Remember this my loved ones God alone will judge. Then on that resurrection day when all the dead will rise the Lord will reunite us together in the skies. So don't give up my friends my memory is still alive. Put your trust in the Lord and I know you will survive.
Thank you Anthony for your service.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms Pfc. Anthony Simmons. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Anthony. And to Anthony it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Anthony, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,335 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Anthony’s family and loved ones.

If you knew where I am standing
If you could see the sights I see -
If you could hear the angels singing
The songs they sing eternally.
If you knew the One I'm holding -
and could see the smile He smiles at me; If you knew where I am resting;
You would not cry for me.
I'm resting in the arms of Jesus
No other place would I rather be.
So if you shed a tear; Please don't shed it for me.
For if you knew where I am resting
You would not cry for me.
I know you are confused by my leaving you so soon; But I’ll be with you again, maybe morning, night or noon, so I’ll save a place for you right beside the Crystal Sea. If you knew where my mansion’s standing, you would not cry for me.
GOD BE WITH YOU.

To Those I Loved And To Those Who Loved Me; When I am gone, release me, let me go. I have so many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, Be thankful for our beautiful years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness, I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled alone.
So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must. Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part, So, bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on, So if you need me, call and I will come. Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near, All my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home."

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My condolences and that of my brother go out to Anthony's family. Anthony was a true friend, and a good sport. He took his nick name “Guido in stride, and it became a term of endearment. He was always quick to laugh, and we will forever treasure his friendship. We had a lot of good times. We were all proud of Anthony when he announced his desire to serve. His enthusiasm was contagious. His passing will be mourned. God bless you Anthony, and God bless your family in their time of sorrow.
