Barbara Haseley Obituary

Haseley, Barbara Jean

In loving memory, we announce that Barbara Jean Haseley, 93, died on Sunday, February 9, 2025 in Seattle, WA. Born to Rev. Martin Alpers and Katherine (Helmbrecht) on March 1, 1931 in Massillon, OH, and baptized and confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church, she dedicated her life to lifting up Christian worship and praise through music and service.

From an early age, Barb had a passion for music, and studied piano, bass clarinet, cello and organ while engaging in many public school extracurricular activities. Her family moved to Buffalo before her senior year and she graduated from Fosdick-Masten Park High School. At Capital University in Columbus, OH, she obtained a BA in English education in 1953, but also studied organ and cello in its Conservatory of Music.

On August 22, 1954, she married Rev. Louis Haseley, whom she met at Capital while he was in seminary, and joined him in Hialeah, FL where he was pastor at St. Luke Lutheran Church. After starting their family, she began her music career and vocation as organist and choir director serving at the Lutheran congregations of St. Luke, Trinity, Alden Terrace, NY, and Grace, Clearwater, FL.

Predeceased by her husband, Rev. Louis Haseley, and her brother, Rev. Kenneth Alpers, she is survived by her three children, Fred, Kathy and David, their spouses and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 am on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1812 N Highland Ave, Clearwater, FL.

My favorite memory with my grandma was making orange juice with her and my cousins. I wish I could be there with all of you.
