Blaine Markee Obituary

MARKEE, Dr. Blaine Alan 51, of Tampa, passed suddenly Oct. 8, 2011. Born and raised in Medford, OR he received his MD from the University of Health Sciences/Chicago Medical School. He was serving as Chief of Orthopedics at the James A. Haley V.A. Medical Center in Tampa and was also Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. For over 24 years he lovingly cared for his patients and was dedicated to the veterans he treated with his quiet, attentive manners and tireless care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Alan and June Markee. Blaine is survived by his loving and dedicated wife, Shelly; his children, Taylor and Thomas; his brother, Brian K. Markee; sister, Grier Gaffney and many other loving family and friends. He cherished his quiet time on Anna Maria island with his family. A funeral Mass to celebrate his life will be conducted 11 am Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church followed by a private committal service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service time. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Rd., Ste. 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256 or woundedwarriorproject.org, in Dr. Markee's memory.
