Blanche G. Young

YOUNG, Blanche G., age 72, of Plant City, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2002. Mrs. Young was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brandon. A master quilter, she won 14 Neighbor- hood Champion Ribbons for her quilting at the Strawberry Festival, from 1989-2001, three ribbons at the International Quilt Show in Houston, Texas and also at the Florida State Fair. She was a member of Crazy Quilters of Temple Terrace and Berry Patch Quilters of Plant City. Survivors include her husband, Jim Young of Plant City; children, Kathy Davies of Portage, Mich., Patricia Peak of St. Petersburg, Sandy Huyck of Marcellus, Mich., also Tom Young and family of Ocala, Deborah Dominick and family of Orlando, and James Young III of Lakeland; and ten grandchildren. A special thanks to the girls on 3 North at the Moffitt Cancer Center. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at Wells Memorial Chapel. A memorial service will be on Monday, 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 120 Knights Avenue North in Brandon, with Dr. Herstel Carter officiating. Internment will be in Kalamazoo, Mich.
