Charles Piatt Obituary

Piatt, Charles

77, of Tampa, passed away May 24, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. Charlie was an avid listener of 88.5 FM, WMNF, and an original member of Homebrew Hillsborough. He could tell you what year a VW van was made with just a glance. His happy place was in his hammock on the porch, sipping kombucha, and reading a book. He finished his BA in Philosophy at age 69 at USF. He was a kind friend, great listener, and a supportive, loving father. He is survived by his daughter, Skye and brother, David. Donations to WMNF.

Well, there is no one else like Charlie Piatt. Charley was interested in everything, especially how things work, he loved talking with people. He loved nothing more than finding humor in roadside attractions. He loved Hawaii shirts, canoe, trips, and bicycling. He went through his bicycle Through New England and once drove his 1963 Volkswagen bus to San Francisco with good friends, Stanley Powell, Well and Kent Salisbury. He loved music, especially live shows and could always be found standing near the front by the stage. Reverend Billy C. Wirtz was one of his favorites. He was brilliant, love to read, especially non-fiction about politics, industry and society. He absolutely loved his daughter Skye Cribelar and raised her to be a grounded and thoughtful person. Whenever I see something funny along the road or in a book, I think oh I need to call Charley and tell him about this, but I hope he´s catching on to all of it in the great beyond. We will miss you like crazy,

Dave Piatt

Charlie- You fought a brave fight against cancer. You had a big impact on a lot of people during your life. Especially on your daughter Skye. I always knew I could count on you if I needed help.

I will miss our Sunday phone calls. Rest in peace!
