Christopher CURTLER Obituary

CURTLER, Christopher went to be with his Heavenly Father on Nov. 10, 2022. Chris was born in New Jersey, on Sep. 19, 1947, the youngest of three brothers. He was raised in "the glorious state of Virginia," coming to Florida in 1973 after graduate school at the University of Chicago. Chris was a psychotherapist in Pinellas and Manatee Counties for 49 years. He was semi-retired, continuing to share his love and wisdom with those clients he still saw. Always a good man, referred to by his wife as "Dudley Do Right," he came to know the Lord after a long process 22 years ago. He became known for asking people how he could pray for them, then praying for them in that moment. Always frugal, he became much more generous. He persevered in seeking to know and love people as Jesus does. He felt called to preach the message of the power of vulnerability, as he believed it to be the path to healing and intimacy as it was for him. His favorite Bible verses were: 2 Corinthians 12: 9-11. His wife, children and grandchildren will always remember him as a person with a great sense of humor and a fun loving nature. He was a great appreciator of life: food, places, NFL football, but people the most, especially his family and closest friends. Chris is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathleen Bishop; his brother, Doug Curtler; his three grown children, Ross Curtler (Christie), Kelly Albrecht (Josh) and Devin Curtler; and grandchildren, Desiree, Joshie, Isaac and Noah. A memorial service will be held at Saint Pete Vineyard church, 5000 10th Ave. North in St. Petersburg on Dec. 3, 4 pm, with dinner reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to one of Chris's favorite ministries: CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ) Ross Curtler acct. 0576665. https://give.cru.org., St. Pete Vineyard Church, stpetevineyard.org or http://www.PayPal.me/openheartsNicaragua.

In December 2018, I started the process of grieving your loss and trying to cherish moments with you knowing your time was limited. Still came as a shock because you always hope and pray you are wrong. My heart aches. I miss you dearly Chris. There's a great big hole in my heart where you resided. I had hoped for a lot more time with you.

Chris and I shared a love of dark humor, scapple, our families and our country. I'm grateful for the times and conversations we had together - just the two of us and with friends. I'm grieving that it must end.

My favorite memory of my uncle Chris was each and every conversation. Chris was incredibly intentional in conversation. You always knew that you mattered.
