Clarence JOHNSON Obituary

JOHNSON, Clarence H.

We regret to announce the death of Clarence H. Johnson who passed in a tragic hit and run accident the morning of October 31, 2016. Clarence was 41 years old and is survived by his parents, Sonia A. Johnson and Casper D. Johnson; sisters, Lolita J. Hoffmann and Darlene G. Johnson; wife, Marlena O. Johnson; and children, Cezanne, Matisse, and Miro.

Clarence graduated from Jesuit High School and the University of Florida with a bachelor's degree in History. Additional postgraduate certifications were completed in Montessori education where his career flourished as a teacher, administrator, and director. Most recently he took a sabbatical from Montessori schools to focus on his role as a father and pursue his master's in Business Administration from St. Leo University. Clarence was also bilingual in English and Spanish and proficient in Italian.

Clarence believed in pursuing happiness and was an avid traveller who found joy in music, food, and art. He immersed himself in all aspects of life and engulfed all of those around him in his vivacious and energetic personality.

A special memorial service will be held at the Terrace Oaks Blount Funeral Home, 12690 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL 33617, Friday, November 4, from 6-8 pm, with Rosary at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be celebrated at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9827-9841 N. 56th St., Temple Terrace, FL 33617, Saturday, November 5, at 10:30 am, followed by the interment at the Lake Magdalene Carrollwood Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Clarence's name to a scholarship fund, whose mission is to provide a scholarship to an underprivileged student to attend Clarence's alma mater, Jesuit High School.

We ask that you keep the family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time. prevattfuneralhome.com

Clarence, I miss you and my dad so very much. You were a beacon of kindness and joy in our lives and I pray for the pain of loss to stop. You and my dad both brought the families together and I enjoyed every minute of being with you and the entire family whether it was at the beach, at my house, or in Tampa. I know you and dad are both in a better place and I ask God to let me be reunited with you and my dad again one day. You will never be forgotten and I will forever have the memories our families shared and will continue to share in my heart.

I can not begin to express how sorry we were to hear about Mr. J. My son Chase was a student of his from 1st through 6th grade. I credit Mr. J with helping my son to become the person he is today. He believed in him and encouraged him to excel in all he set his mind to doing. Today, Chase is an English teacher, in part because of the wonderful example of Mr. J. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family and friends.
