D'Avanza, Corrado Peter "Lollie"
76, of Tampa, Florida passed away on October 22, 2025. Born on Halloween in 1948 in New Orleans, Louisiana, Corrado was the third of Tony and Selena D'Avanza's six children and, being the middle child, was destined to become a well-meaning goofball. He graduated from Jesuit High School in 1966 with the superlative of class clown and joined his older brothers, Francis and Anthony, at the University of Florida, where he was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity. The campus could not hope to contain three troublemakers of that caliber simultaneously, so Corrado graciously bowed out and attended USF instead, graduating with a double major in Economics and Finance. Corrado's youth was a wild ride of (mis)adventure-seeking, full of hitchhiking to concerts all over the country and odd jobs such as a stint as a server at the Mt. Washington Hotel in New Hampshire and co-owning The Wit's End bar with some friends. He loved to travel and made many happy memories skiing in the Rocky Mountains and eating his way around Italy, his favorite place in the world. He was happiest, however, partaking in the simple things: cooking meals for his family, watching the Lightning, Rays, Buccaneers and Gators play, and relaxing in his recliner, absorbed in a program like "Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night'. Corrado's pride and joy were his three kids, onto whom he passed on a passion for reading, music, history, and social justice. His legacy will live on through them and stories of his many escapades, which he was always happy to share many times over. In his honor, feel free to eat a bowl of pasta (any shape), play a record loudly, or do a good deed for someone in need. Corrado is survived by his wife of 38 years, Nora Taylor D'Avanza, of Tampa; daughters, Helen D'Avanza of Tampa, and Mia D'Avanza (Michael) of Philadelphia, PA; and son, Ben D'Avanza (Kristan) of Dallas, TX; brother, David of Melbourne Beach, FL; sisters, Gina Kelly (Ted) of Tampa, and Maria Gray (Chris) of Louisville, KY; and his many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Selena D'Avanza and brothers, Francis D'Avanza and Anthony D'Avanza Jr. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 15 at Casa Santo Stefano from 1-3:30 pm.
