Cozee SMITH
SMITH, Cozee Lynn The glorious life of Cozee Lynn Smith, 71, of Tampa, Florida ended on May 4, 2021. She was surrounded by her family and friends during her stay at St. Joseph's Hospital. She was a force of good on this earth influencing many in the Tampa bay community. Known for her creativeness and commitment to family she graduated from Plant High School and the University of South Florida where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She was active in the Palma Ceia Methodist Church Youth Ministry and participated in several mission trips. Wanting to live in a big city, she went to New York and was employed by a solar energy group. She returned to Florida and joined Barnett Bank as a Newcomers representative. Cozee advanced to become Senior Vice President for Community Relations. Her influence in the community was significant ensuring corporate contributions and sponsorships were allocated strategically. She was instrumental in helping launch the extraordinarily successful Enterprise Village business education project that continues today. She supported the visual and performing arts and directed bank art acquisitions. Cozee was exceptionally good at orchestrating elaborate events including large sales productions of dancing bankers and private dinners for corporate clients. Her exquisite decorating of a 30-foot Christmas tree in the lobby of 200 Central Ave brought joy to all of St. Petersburg. She loved music and the theater and gourmet cuisine. Seafood dinner parties at her home were legendary. After retiring to a lakeside home in Land O' Lakes, she became an avid birder and photographer spending many hours at Ft. Desoto Park and the Rainbow River. Once she became so distracted by her sightings she got lost for an afternoon in the woods. She was a loyal friend loved and respected by many. Preceded in death by her father, Albert Preston Smith Jr., and brother, "Chipper" Albert Preston III, she will be missed by many but especially her mother, Anne H. Smith; brother, Robert Scott Smith, and his wife, Jacqueline; nephews, Joshua, Cody and Jesse Smith, Preston IV; and Preston's mother, Sharry Smith; Kyle Larsen; aunts and uncles, Patricia and Oliver Kuhn, as well as numerous cousins living in Florida and Tennessee. A service will take place May 24, 2021 at 1:30 pm, Palma Ceia United Methodist Church, 3723 Bay to Bay Blvd, Tampa, FL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Palma Ceia Methodist Day School. A reception will be held at the Tampa Women's Club, 2901 Bayshore Blvd following the service.

I first met Cozee when she was hired by Barnett Bank. She and I shared a small space by the front door. Cozee was very special and I will always respect her professionalism and friendship.

No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing God is with you and your family lean on him in your time of need. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences.
