David Kurko Obituary

KURKO, David Joseph, 77, of Sebring, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2007, in Sebring. He was born November 28, 1929, to David and Martha (Cola) Brown in Detroit, Mich. and had been a resident of Sebring since 2001, coming from Clarkston, Mich. He was the owner and operator of a bar and restaurant, Sportsman' s Lounge, in Clarkston, retiring in 1994. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during the Korean War; was a former member of Knights of Columbus, Eagles, Elks and the Michigan Beverage Association, where he was a board member for many years. A member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Sebring, he was a former member of Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Waterford, Mich. for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Isabell Kurko, Sebring; daughter, Debra (Rick) Seder of Saginaw, Mich.; sons, David (Julie) Kurko of Lafayette, Calif., Michael (Anne Smith) Kurko of San Diego, Calif., Thomas Kurko of Clarkston, Mich., John Kurko of La Mesa, Calif., James (Stacy) Kurko of Savannah, Ga. and Patrick (Amy) Kurko of Queens Creek, Ariz.; brother, Robert Kurko of Michigan; sister, Patricia Grammatico of California and 11 grandchildren, Nicole, Benjamin, Jake, Elizabeth, Danielle, Catherine, Zachary, Madison, Jameson, Gavin and Julian. He was preceded in death by a memorial Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2007, at St. Catherine Catholic Church, Father J. Peter Sheehan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Catherine Catholic, 882 Bay St., Sebring, FL 33870. Cremation arrangements entrusted to STEPHENSON-NELSON FUNERAL HOME 4002 Sebring Parkway Sebring, Florida 33870
