Diane BOWERS Obituary
the daughter of the late Leila Bowers and Leandrew Bowers of St. Petersburg, sadly, departed this life Jan. 22, 2016. She attended local schools in Pinellas County where she was a proud graduate of Gibbs High School class of 1970. Diane also attended Fisk University, graduating in 1974. Upon her return to St. Petersburg, she devoted many years supporting youth in the community. She worked for Pinellas County Schools; was a Director of a local YMCA program, as well as the ESA Title One Program. For many years she was an active member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She completed her career working at the Sno Peak Drive-In, after the death of her mother and until the business was sold. Diane leaves to cherish her memories three brothers, Leandrew, Robert (Ameta) and Gregory Bowers all of St. Petersburg; aunts, Nell Stokes (Robert) and Maye Walker also of St. Petersburg; and a special cousin, Frank Martin (Shundra) along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wake is Friday, 7-8 pm at Lawson Funeral Home. Funeral Service, Jan. 30, 11 am at the First Mount Zion MB Church, 1121 22nd St. S., St. Petersburg.

I have nothing but fond memories of Diane. She and I were life-long friends ever since meeting in the 2nd Grade, while attending G. W. Perkins Elementary. I will truly miss her.
