Dorothea Desilets Obituary

DESILETS, Dorothea Jean (Newcombe), 86, of Florida, where she had been a residentsince 1980, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 23, 2006, at Tampa General Hospital, Tampa, Fla. Born July 2, 1919, in Quincy, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Edmund L. and Eugenia (Hanna) Newcombe. She was a 1937 graduate of North Quincy High School and Pondville Hospital School of Practical Nursing. Formerly of Millis, she was employed by Medfield State Hospital as a licensed practical nurse for over 20 years until her retirement in 1976. Dot's nursing continued throughout her retirement as she organized and volunteered at her senior community's health fair doing blood pressure screenings. She also volunteered each year at the Florida State Fair. A gifted pianist with a passion for music, she was always heard singing songs from her youth. She was a member of the Christmas Bell Choir at a local Methodist church. Dot's love for the ocean and lakes will always be remembered fondly by her family. She loved the beach, refreshing swims, and family trips to Lake Sebago, Maine since childhood. Since 1980 she enjoyed spending every summer at Beach Acres in Wells, Maine. Dorothea was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Desilets. She was the loving mother of David E. Desilets and his wife Jane of Hopkinton, Susan J. Baptiste and her husband Paul of Westborough, Mass. She was a devoted grandmother to Dawn Marie Sulmasy and her husband Neil of Princeton, Mass. David E. "Ted" Desilets and his wife Andrea of Spencer, Mass. Daniel L. Desilets of Hopkinton, Mass. Paul J. Baptiste and his wife Brandy of Sacramento, Calif., and Amy E. Baptiste of Westborough, Mass. as well as four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will take place 9:00 a.m. July 22, 2006, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street, Hopkinton, Mass. Burial will follow at Vine Lake Cemetery, Medfield, Mass. The obituary, guest book, and additional information may be found at www.robertsmitchell.com.
