Eric Rutkowski Obituary

RUTKOWSKI, Eric John, born April 11, 1981, died July 16, 2003. Survived by his parents, Linda and Ron Rutkowski; his grand- parents, Ray and Doris Pomorski and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was alwa ys a loving son but so very lost and tormented in this world. He did belong in this cold, cruel world. He had a heart of gold but it was broken over and over again. He will be sorely missed by his mother and father, his loving grandparents, his aunts, uncles, cousins and by the many people whose lives he touched. He is now in a better and much kinder place with God free from all torment and pain. Please pray th at he finds the peace and happiness that he could never seem to find in this world. "We love you Eric and always will, throughout all of eternity." Mom & Dad, Grandma & Grandpa Beth David Funeral C hapel Tampa 874-3330

This original song was sung at Eric's memorial service in Tampa, Florida.

Forever Home

(words & music by C. Denise Young

printed here with the special permission of Denise Young, the composer.)

My loved one that I see is not the person really there,

Your spirit has found its final rest in the Father’s care

And the love you left behind will last a whole life long,

Now that you’re with Jesus,Eric, you’re forever home.

Forever healed, no more pain, Forever free, no more chains,

Forever safe, no more fears, Forever joy, no more tears,

Although I’ve said goodbye for now, I know you’re not alone.

For in the arms of Jesus, you’re forever home.

In this valley of shadows, I’ll see the Savior’s light,

And know that death is overcome with resurrection life.

Death, you have no victory,

Grave, you have no sting,

To leave this body is to be with God,

Forever home, forever to sing…

Forever healed, no more pain, Forever free, no more chains,

Forever safe, no more fears, Forever joy, no more tears,

Although I’ve said goodbye for now,

I know you’re not alone.

For in the arms of Jesus, you’re forever home.

From perfection to perfection, a journey safe from harm,

From a loving heart on earth straight to the Father’s arms.

Forever healed, no more pain, Forever free, no more chains,

Forever safe, no more fears, Forever joy, no more tears,

Although I’ve said goodbye for now,

I know you’re not alone.

For in the arms of Jesus, you’re forever home.

In the arms of Jesus, Eric, you’re forever home.

Eric, this song gives me great comfort knowing that you are finally at peace.

Thank you so very much Denise for sharing it with us all.

With love always,

Your mom

I'll always remember the curious little boy. The time we were visiting and of course not paying attention. Eric found my Mom's camera and began to take pictures of different items in the house. I remember how my Mom laughed when those pictures were developed. I also remember all of our good times in Erie. Eric was always such a joy. I know that he is in heaven with the angels and that he is with my Mom. Maybe they're taking pictures of us together.

Love, Janet

Linda... We were so sorry to hear from Tom about your tragic loss. We were good friends with Mary Ellen, and we can't help but feel that Eric knew he was going to be joining his Aunt by wearing her rosary. Tom has kept us posted on the family through the years, and this latest tragedy was a real shock. Our hearts are with you, and you will be in our daily prayers.

God Bless You...

Eulogy given by his mom at St Hedwig's Church, Erie, Pa on July 25,2003.

My son, Eric John led a very troubled and tormented life since his car accident 9 years ago, but he always had a kind and gentle heart.

He thought nothing of giving a handout of money or cigarettes to someone begging on the street or helping out a friend expecting nothing in return.

Oftentimes, when I came home from work, he had dinner prepared and the house straightened up for me.

On my last birthday in March, he and his girlfriend decorated my bedroom with Happy Birthday banners, ribbons, a hundred balloons and a bouquet of flowers along with a birthday cake and had purchased me a beautiful angel picture. It was the best birthday of my life!

He had started setting up my coffee for me the night before as he knew that I'm somewhat of a zombie first thing in the morning. Even the very night that he ended his life, he set up the coffee for me. He knew that I was going to need it.

He was wearing my sister Mary Ellen's rosary around his neck that night and he prayed that God would forgive him for what he felt he had to do.

Please pray that all his anguish is now over and that he is finally at peace with our Lord.

If you would like to do something in his memory, I ask that you pick up a neighbor or friend and take them to church, take a child with no mother or father to a ballgame, movie or the park or perhaps invite a widow or a widower over to dinner. It just might give them the hope to go on!

MY SON

My son, my child,

You were the light of my life,

The hope of the future.

My son,my child,

You filled my days with laughter and joy,

With wails and giggles,

And sometimes tears.

My son, my little boy,

You filled my life with wonder.

With sounds of toys and stories, With wants and wishes,

With hopes and dreams.

My son, my young man.

You filled my life with music and noise.

With hope but worry.

My son, my friend.

You filled my life with happiness and sorrow.

With joy and pain,

With truth and lies,

With laughter and tears.

With hope and despair.

My son, my child, my young man, my friend.

YOU FILLED MY LIFE WITH LOVE.

With love always,

Mom

NO MORE

No more pain

No more tears

No need to worry

No need to fear.

No more failure.

Or shattered dreams.

Life is over

Or so it seems.

A new beginning

Awaits for you

A brand new Eric

With a soul renewed.

Angels Are With You

Angels accompany you

To God above.

Far from earth

Where there is perfect love.

Peace and harmony,

No more strife.

Where you will begin a brand new life.

I will miss you every day.

And pray that God will light your way.

All my love,

Mom
