Frances M. Leaphart

LEAPHART, Frances M. On April 16, 2015, Frances passed away peacefully while being attended by family members at Florida Hospital in Sebring, Florida. Frances was 84 years old. She had resided in Sebring since 1967, where the family moved when husband Robert "Bob" Leaphart retired from the Air Force. Frances Leaphart was born in Dalhart, Texas on March 26, 1931. She was the only child of Jessie Carthel Ward Rose and Robert Wirt Rose. After graduating high school in Waco, Texas she joined the Women's Army Corps and served until her first child, Terry, was born in 1950. Frances worked as a dedicated and compassionate nurse after graduating from Baylor University School of Technician Nursing. As a life-long learner, she also graduated from the first registered nurse class at South Florida Community College and became certified in psychiatric and mental health nursing in 1982. She continued her education and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Warner Southern University. Survivors include her loving husband, Robert "Bob" Leaphart; children, Terry Leaphart (Becky), Stanley Leaphart (Gerry) and Becky Leaphart Fleck (Chuck); grandchildren, Megan McAvoy (Brian), Audrey Young, Ryan Leaphart (Stacey), Angie Leaphart Spencer (Jon), and Maria Leaphart Hartley; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Robert P. Leaphart, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Heston Leaphart. Visitation will be held from 3:00pm - 4:00pm on Monday at Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. The memorial service will immediately follow visitation and begin at 4:00pm with Pastor Andy McQuaid officiating. Immediately following the memorial service there will be a Military Honor Guard presentation. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to your favorite charity in honor of Frances M. Leaphart.
