COIL, Gary

73, of New Port Richey, passed away June 17, 2017. He was born in Ohio and moved to St. Petersburg in 1957 with his family. For 33 years he taught history and served as department chair at Seminole High School in Pinellas County. He is survived by brothers, James Coil (Sharon) and Bruce Coil (Sue) and nieces, Christina Coil, Cynthia Coil Jones (Devin), Courtney Coil, and Lindsey Dougherty. A service will be held Saturday, July 29, at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home, 5228 Trouble Creek Road, New Port Richey, FL. The family will receive friends at 1 pm with the service following at 2 pm. Please visit the online guest book at:

A great man and teacher. I had Mr. Coil in 1989. He was strict at times, but he really new how to tap into each student. Wish I had known. My condolences go out to his family!

Gary was a veteran teach at SHS when I arrived to teach there in 1981......he was probably one of the smartest men I knew....kind, respectful, and oh so handsome! God speed! Condolences to the entire Coil family!
