So sorry for your lost. It was a great honor to have known Bud. We played many a round of golf at the Silver Dollar golf course. I last spoke to Bud on the 75th Anniversary of D-day. That day was always special to me, as I was born on June 6th, 1949.

My admiration for Gerald Berry and his fellow comrades of the 439th Troop Carrier Group USAAF who arrived towards the end of April on the build up to D-Day June 1944 at Upottery airfield in East Devon England where I grew up as child during WWII is without limits.
During my research in 2004 into what I had witnessed as a child brought me into contact with Gerald and, in November of that year my late wife and I visited him and his wife Peggy at their home in Clearwater Florida.
We soon discovered what a great guy he was and very modest about his achievements during his wartime service. At that time he was 82 years old very fit and regularly going for a four mile run.
Now my thoughts are with all the members of his family.
He and Peggy´s generosity towards my wife and myself on our memorable visit will remain with me until the very end.
