Gerald Hooker Obituary

HOOKER, Gerald R., 76, peacefully went to be home with the Lord on Thursday Feb. 6, 2014 after a long battle with Parkin-son's disease and Alz-heimer's simul-taneously. He was born in Plant City, FL. to Jack and Lennie Hooker. He married Kay Harrell in 1958, who later died of cancer. They had 2 children, Sharon and Jax and lived in Plant City, where he ran his family owned department store. He became mayor, served on the city commission, Lions Club and many other civic efforts. Gerald was a Florida Gator fan until the very end. Gerald married Jeannette Reppert of Dallas in 1980. They lived in Plant City for 15 years and he was active in Fellowship of Companies for Christ and real estate before moving back to Plano, TX. to retire. He has been very active with Prestonwood Baptist Church since 1994, in Bible study fellowship, being a deacon and going on mission trips to Romania and many South American countries. Gerald is survived by his faithful wife, Jeannette Hooker of Plano, his two children Sharon Bridges and Jax (Bambi) Hooker in Florida and his grandchildren, Trey Bridges, Alec Bridges, Alixandra Hooker and Jacey Anne Hooker. His surviving step children are Matt Reppert in Austria, Mike Reppert in Dallas, Julia Henning in New Jersey and Todd Reppert in Houston; including 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gerald's hometown church, First Baptist Church of Plant City, FL. Also, donations can be made to his alma mater, Plant City High School. Gerald was passionate about Plant City and would be honored to be remembered by his family and friends in the community.

Mr. Hooker measured me for a lot of years for pants, suits and shoes. He was a nice man and a son of Plant City. He will be missed by a lot of people. Growing up in PC in the 60's Hookers Dept. store was the place. Sounds to me like he earned his reward with his good works.

Sending thoughts, prayers, and sympathy to the Hooker family. Mr. Hooker was good to all of us and gave jobs to all of the Burt girls at our beloved Hooker's Dept. Store in a Plant City. He was also a good church youth leader when we were children and we have for memories of him. God bless you all. Joy Burt Lingenfelter.
