Gertraud SOUTH Obituary

SOUTH, Gertraud M. was born March 17, 1930 to Siegfried and Margarete (Munzel) Stark in Vienna, Austria. She passed on October 14, 2021 in Tampa, Florida, where she resided since 1973. In 1934, she began her early career in the Austrian film industry and appeared in starring rolls with renowned film personalities in several nationally viewed films until the end of World War II. She was featured on theater and publicity billboards as "Die (The) Traudl Stark". She was frequently referred to as the Shirley Temple of Austria. Trudy was a member and supporter of the Military Officers Wives' Club and Operation Helping Hand. She is survived by her husband, Thomas South; and daughters, Linda (South) Wells and husband Dr. Larry Wells; Teresa South; Jo Ann (South) Hayes and Kimberly (South) Olive and her husband Mark Olive. A son, Robert South, proceeded her in death in 2001. Her family includes many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grand-children. She will be dearly missed by many friends and family. She will be buried in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
