Herbert Palmer Obituary

PALMER, Herbert Robert 86, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Hospice House Woodside. Born in Bridgeport, CT, he served in the Air Force during WWII as a B24 pilot and settled in St. Petersburg in 1951. After active service he remained in the U.S. Air Force Reserves and retired as Major. He was a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters, local 123 for 51 years. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed his grandchildren, great- grandchildren and his dog Tiger. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Arloa Palmer and parents, Herbert and Amy Palmer. He is survived by his daughter, Pamela P. Jackson; son, Robert C. Palmer; sisters, Elizabeth P. Griffiths and Jeannie P. Griffiths; grandchildren, Patricia J. Whitt, David R. Jackson, Diane E. Palmer, Karen P. Dubois, Lynne P. Felix and Michael R. Palmer and great- grandchildren, Tyler, Dakota, Ethan, Brenden, Eli, Katelynn, Jacob, Paige, Aliah, Madeline, Natalie and Ben. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Christ United Methodist Church, 467 1st Ave. N St. Petersburg, FL 33701.
