Jean GURLEN

GURLEN, Jean Holcomb passed away peacefully February 12, 2022. Jean was born at home on May 13, 1933, in Pemiscot County, MO. The youngest child of James Lawson Holcomb and Minnie C. (Powell) Holcomb. Wife of 58 years to the late James Robert Gurlen (USAF). Jim Bob and Jean then traveled the world with the USAF welcoming five children into their union. They found a home in south Tampa, FL in 1973 and made it their Shangri-la. Jean is survived by her children and their spouses, Steven Gurlen, James and Carol Gurlen, Byron Gurlen, Rhonda and John Heflin, and Randall and Marian Gurlen; grandchildren, Samuel, Lydia, Steven, Gillian, Jennifer, Travis and Jeffrey; eight great-grandchildren and nine great-step-children. Jean Holcomb Gurlen will be laid to rest beside her husband James R. Gurlen at Florida National Cemetery on March 21, 2022.
