In August 2000, my family and I were planning to relocate to Florida from Cincinnati. My friend Martha Stearns said, Oria you need to go to my hometown, Clearwater and attend my church, Mt Olive AME 600 Jones Street. There, I met Rev. Jimmy B. Keel and Mrs. Evelyn Keel. Rev. Keel always had a kind and caring word for my children and me. Rev. Keel looked out for us. He also performed a wedding in our family. Under his leadership, I grew as a Christian in the body of Christ. I served as a stewardess, an usher, and steward. From Clearwater to Historic Bethel St. Pete until I relocated to Naples, even when I relocated to Naples, Rev. Keel sent me to Bethel AME in Naples and Rev. Clayton Hodge. He continued to check to see how things were going. When he was appointed Presiding Elder, I would follow him on YouTube. To this day I still YouTube Elder Jimmy B. Keel to hear him preach The Word of God.
A wonderful inspiration to me and my family. Present with The Lord Elder Keel

I knew of Mr. Jimmie Keel because he was a Bethune-Cookman College graduate. like me and he was active in the local B-CC Alumni. Plus, Mr. Keel lived in my neighborhood off 34th. More importantly, I know Mr. Keel from his works as an Assistant Hillsborough County Administrator and I worked for the City of Tampa. Mr. Keel was on our Civil Service Board which I got to know him better and Mr. Keel was highly effective. May God Bless Mr. Keel Soul.

My heart is so sad but glad because I believe Elder Keel is resting in the arms of Jesus. Bobby and I grew up in JERUSALEM community and attended Long branch Elementary School together .I was there to hear his Trial Sermon and down through the years we saw each other at various meetings. He never forgot where he came from or the people. He would ask about the folk here in Jackson and then ask me to convey his love to the church family. Bobby was a good man who always cared about others. I am thankful for the years we knew each other.RIP Presiding Elder Jimmie Bobby Keel I will see you in the morning. P.S. when he was appointed Presiding Elder no one screamed for joy any louder than myself and the Marianna attendees.

Presiding Elder Keel served as my Presiding Elder while I served at Greggs Temple AME Church in Jacksonville. I remember his love for God and the church, his love for people, his Godly wisdom, and his personal advice. Elder Keel and Sister Dorothy were a fine example of Elder and Consultant. He will be sorely missed and his phrase. " Can I have a praying Church " will be fondly remembered. Rest well Elder Keel, your legacy lives on. Our prayers and condolences to the family Rev. Roger and Elvia Williams, Philip R Cousin AME Church.
