Joan WATERBURY Obituary

WATERBURY, Joan Marie 90, of St. Petersburg, embraced the eternal reward she sought June 17, 2021, with family at her side. She was born October 23, 1930 in Bogota, New Jersey to Fred and Rose Coghlan and married June 6, 1953 to Edward Waterbury at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joan was easy to love. She was remarkable in her humor, depth of literary interests, patience, gratefulness and fidelity to family and God. Joan was especially close with her sister, Carol, and had a cherished lifetime friendship with Betty Freitag. Appreciative and undemanding to her caregivers, Joan demonstrated how she interacted with family and friends throughout life. Joan was blessed with seven children, Dawn Marie, Scott, Mark, Drew, David, Matthew, Damian; 26 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Joan's final message to her family was that she was happy to move on, and that she hoped they would be happy for her. A private memorial service will be held June 23. No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing God is with you and your family lean on him in your time of need.
