Joey was my mentor and the only father figure I have had for the past 6 years. I met Joe when i was very young and very lost and he helped me . He helped me find a better home in a better and safer neighborhood, he gave me advice for everything , he taught me about politics and how to help myself become a better person. I struggled deeply when joe and i met and he really did help me see a bigger world outside of myself and he always made me feel proud to be american, he would say this is th greatest country in the world and florida was the best state besides his hometown lol. I helped Joe with everything in the last days and months of his life. We had alot of plans . We where to go to Key west for one more adventure and if his dialysis would permit him to go to las vegas we were going in december. He also wanted me to meet his sister Jeanette he said she was his favorite sibling she helped him out majorly along with chuck. He was so happy he finally sold that beautiful house in Feathersound he told me he was going to pay his sister back with that money because she helped him majorly. He was very proud and honest about his sister. The last day i helped him he got a new printer we put it together and laughed and joked about life, politics, me and how we couldn't understand how to put the printer together but we got through it and we put it together. that was our last adventure . Maybe it was as opulant as other adventures we had but it was really funny actually. He really was funny. Ill never forget you Joey. Im sorry i couldn't afford to go to your funeral and I'm sorry i couldn't be there for you at the hospital i couldn't find out any information I'm not even sure what really happened when god took you? But thats ok because i have memories that would last for days. i PRAY YOUR DANCING IN HEAVEN WITH BETTY :) in heaven . Thank you for all of your help I'm finishing school now you told me i never finish what i start so I'm finishing for you and myself. My degree is in your memory thank you for always pushing my buttons when it came to my education I'm sorry it took so long better then never though right? Nick, Beth, Joe, Jack, & Frank , I'm sorry to hear of your loss and I hope for wonderful memories and thoughts as you remember your Dad, Father-in-law, grandpa "Joe" and friend.
He was the "Glue" in St. Louis that has helped make you who you are and will continue to guide and help you. Please welcome his visits and allow the emotions to fill you with the love and joy that was part of his life.
Enjoy your family and in sharing your special memories of him and our best,
Scott, Janet and the Modde Family
Some words from Ecclesiastes 3:
TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven:
A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted,
A time to kill and a time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build up,
A time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
A time to cast away stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
A time to get and a time to lose, a time to keep and a time to cast away,
A time to rend and a time to sew, a time to keep silence and a time to speak,
A time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.
What profit remains for the worker from his toil?
I have seen the painful labor and exertion and miserable business which God has given to the sons of men with which to exercise and busy themselves.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He also has planted eternity in men's hearts and minds [a divinely implanted sense of a purpose working through the ages which nothing under the sun but God alone can satisfy], yet so that men cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to be glad and to get and do good as long as they live;
As your Joe visits you, welcome his memory, allow him to fill your hearts with joy and love!

My sympathies are with Joe's family right now for a difficult road that must be traveled. I met Joe here in Florida at Feather Sound Church. Joe was an interesting character who always had time to talk. Joe was pretty easy going and will be missed. Take comfort that he and Betty are together again.
Thy will be done!

My deepest sympathy to the Barbieri family. I met Betty at DuBourg High School and remained friends along with a group of us over the years and read today about your father's passing. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you.
