Joshua Rankin Obituary
Robinson High School's football team will wear a decal on its helmets this season in memory of former player Joshua Rankin, who was stabbed to death in Ybor City early Saturday.
Rankin, 21, an offensive lineman at Robinson, wore jersey No. 75 as a senior captain in 2009. The Knights will wear his number on their helmets this season. Rankin also was on the school's wrestling team.
"Former RHS athlete Josh Rankin will be sorely missed," the school's football team said in a Twitter post. "The team's prayers are with his family & friends."
Rankin was stabbed at East Fifth Avenue and North 16th Street, police said. Joseph Vincent Amore, 21, of Lakeland, was arrested and faces a charge of second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
A visitation for Rankin is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, 605 S. MacDill Ave., with the funeral at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Port Tampa, 8306 Interbay Blvd.

Joshua and his family will be in our prayers. I cannot imagine how Debbie, Milton an Caleb must feel. I have been friends with Sharon and her family for over 25 years. My heart aches for all of them. We love you and we are so very sorry. If there is anything you need, do not hesitate to ask.

I remember when Joshua came to pre-school with his Mom & Dad. I was his teacher at Westshore Alliance Partnership School and I watched him grow. I couldn't believe it when I heard about this, I thought maybe it was a different Joshua but then I saw his Dad on t.v. and my heart was saddened. I can't believe such a young life was taken long before his time. I know that he will be missed.

I have only good memories of this young man. I got to know him in his Senior year at RHS. He was my TA in the IB office. he was always very respectful and willing to help in any way. I enjoyed his great spirit for life and that sweet smile.
The Lord has taken him home where he will be safe in God's arms.

We can not believe that we have to be doing this there are know words that will take away the pain that the Rankin Family is going through!
