I met Kathy when we worked together at the Department of Public Aid. My boss told me to make friends with her because she was the best typist we had. At time no one had a personal computer so I made sure to befriend her. She wasn't a trusting soul and she could spot insincerity a mile away so I had to. earn her trust. We became good friends; we played canasta every lunch hour and shared life's joys and challenges. She struggled to support and raise the boys on her own, especially since she suffered from depression herself. But nothing was more important than those two young men. Everything about her was real and she had a good heart. Her many cats prospered under her care and she professed they were better company people. She was one of a kind, very special and I miss her!
