DARBY, Kenneth G. Sr. "Ken" 71, of St. Petersburg passed away at Suncoast Hospice April 6, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer, his wife and family by his side. Ken was born in Cleveland, Ohio. Growing up in Kirtland, Ken graduated from Kirtland High School. He lived many years in Painesville, Ohio and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 2003. Ken was an Engineer by trade and retired in 2021 from the City of St. Petersburg. Ken married the love of his life, Barbara "Barby" Darby (nee Dusa), in 1999. Together, they created many cherished memories with family and cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Ken's second love in life was golf. He belonged to several golf leagues both in Ohio and Florida, developing lifelong friendships along the way. He was an accomplished fisherman and "jack of all trades". Ken was always ready to help friends and family with projects or repair jobs. Ken is survived by his wife, Barby; his mother, Ruth Kossmann; his sisters, Paulette Shetina and Pam Bryztwa of Ohio, his children, Kenneth Jr. of Texas, Michael of Ohio and Lisa Turchon of Ohio; his grandchildren, Chelsea Paterniti, Jeff, Logan, Benjamin, Elie, Braelynn and Chelsea, Dana and Sean; great-grandchildren, Braelynn, Averie, Hunter, Makynzie, Ava and Margo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Tee St. Petersburg.
