LaVern Virginia Ophelia Mittel, 82, affectionately known to family and friends as Pat, passed away late Monday evening in Camarillo, leaving this earth to be with her beloved Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus. She was born Sept. 28, 1929 in Big Spring, Texas.
She and her husband, Jay, established Mittel's Art & Frame Center in 1954 in Santa Monica. Pat is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph "Jay" Christian Mittel, Jr.; two sons, Chris Mittel of Calabasas and John Mittel of Simi Valley; three daughters, Jody Throckmorton and Camille Hicks of Thousand Oaks and Julie Mars of Eagle, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Kirby of Cedar Park, Texas; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosser and Omie Mae Cochron; one great-grandson, Chad Aitken; five brothers, R. M., Bill, Hugh, Harold and Harvey Cochron; and three sisters, Edna McCoslin, Julia Bird and Mary Jo Porter.
Services will take place today, Sunday, June 10, 2012, 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodland Hills. Private burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Aunt Pat will always be a wonderful part of many family memories. We had so many reunions, vacations and Christmas get togethers..
She was an amazing, strong and beautiful woman!
