Leonard H. Hawk

HAWK, Leonard H., 81, of Ridge Manor, Fla., passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2009, at HPH Hospice in Dade City, Fla. He was born February 20, 1928, in Bicknell, Ind., the son of Benjamin and Viola Hawk. Leonard moved to Ridge Manor 23 years ago from Spencer, Ind. He had a strong Christian faith and was a prayer warrior member of First Baptist Church of Ridge Manor. He was a member of GM Local 933 UAW and was a World War II veteran. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vada L. Hawk; his children, Carla Hawk of Florida and Gilbert (Cathy) Hawk of Indiana; his siblings, Melvin Hawk of Tennessee, and Joseph Hawk, Esther Watkins, Joan Jones and Ruth Jackson, all of Indiana; three grand-children, Meagan Modlin, Jennifer Ferryman and Lindsey Campbell; three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters; and his extended family and friends. Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Hodges Family Funeral Home, 301 Chapel, Dade City. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service. Graveside services, with military honors, will take place at 10 a.m. Monday at Florida National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to HPH Hospice, Dade City.
