Lucy Butler Bush

BUSH, Lucy Butler, 99, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009, at her home in Bereah, Fla. She was born in Monticello, Fla., to Little Isaac and Sittie (Griffin) Butler. A homemaker, Lucy was self-employed in the cattle and citrus industries. She attended the Athens Baptist Church and enjoyed working with her flowers. She had been a resident of Bereah since 1949, coming from Sebring, Fla. She is survived by her son, Harold Bush (Vonnie) of Bereah; daughters, Betty Barberee (John) of Avon Park, Fla., Winona Crews (Howe) of Avon Park, and Marjorie Newberry (Byron) of Bereah; sister, Virginia Quarels of Okeechobee, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Perry Bush; her son, Robert Bush; and grandson, Steven Newberry. A visitation will take place 10-11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. The funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Cemetery.
