BALDY, Marguerite Joanne Moore passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Monday, June 28, 2021. Joanne was born on November 30, 1932, in Omaha, Nebraska to Joseph Underwood Moore of Fayetteville, North Carolina, and Marguerite Jones Moore of Laclede, Missouri. Joanne's childhood included moves to North Carolina, and eventually to Tampa in 1947, where her father Joe Moore established his insurance business. Joanne loved her family's ancestral state of North Carolina, but she loved Tampa also. She was a loyal alumna of Plant High School (Class of 1950) and Florida State University (Class of 1954), where she met the love of her life, Anderson Lacy Baldy Jr. of Bradenton, Florida. After Lacy returned from service in the US Army during the Korean War, they were married in 1955 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Tampa, and were blessed with 62 years of marriage, three children, six grand-children, one great-grand-child, and a wonderful life. For more than 70 years, Joanne was an active and faithful member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She served in several ministries including Daughters of the King, Episcopal Church Women, as a Sunday School teacher, and member of the choir. She was a true daughter of the King, faithfully serving God and witnessing to Christ throughout her life. In her years between college and raising children, Joanne served as a primary grade school teacher at Dale Mabry and Manhattan Elementary Schools. She also served the community through many organizations, including the Junior League of Tampa, PEO, Chiselers, Girl Scouts, and President of The Home Association. She was proud of her ancestral heritage, which included William Bradford and President James K. Polk, and was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mayflower Society, and Colonial Dames. She also enjoyed friendships made as a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and the Main Sheet Mamas sailing club at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club. Left to cherish Joanne's legacy and memory are her children and their spouses, Rebecca and Jeff Masser, Mary Beth and Michael Dickinson, and Anne and Trey Baldy; her grandchildren, Anne Meredith Baldy, Robert N. Baldy, and J. Anderson Baldy, Jeffrey N. Masser, Michelle E. Dickinson, Mary Ashley Dickinson Edwards and her spouse Ian Edwards; her great-grandson, Thomas Lacy Edwards; her brother, James Moore, and her brother and sister-in-law, James and Jodi Baldy of Ellijay, Georgia. Joanne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lacy, and her parents, Joe and Marguerite Moore. A memorial and funeral service will be held at St. Andrew's Church in downtown Tampa at 2 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021. Interment will follow at Manasota Memorial Park in Bradenton.
