Marilyn Kirkland Obituary

KIRKLAND, Marilyn Ruth (Page) "Lynn" Passed away peacefully June 9, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Lynn was born and raised in River Rouge, MI and attended Michigan State University. She was a long time resident of Battle Creek, MI and Boca Raton. The past four years she lived in the Clearwater area to be close to her children. While raising her family she was also active as a member of the Junior League of Battle Creek, hospital volunteer, Boy Scout den mother, avid golfer and a top notch bridge player. Later in life she took up ballroom dancing. She went on to dance competitively and won many awards and trophies. Her dancing took her to wonderful places such as Austria, Puerto Rico, Greece, Aruba, Spain and Hungary. All of this was accomplished after a remarkable recovery from brain surgery for three aneurysms. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William H. Kirkland Jr.; her brother, Edward A. Page, Jr. and her sister, Eileen C. Nykiel. Lynn is survived by her daughter, Shelly Brown (David) of Safety Harbor; her son, Scott Kirkland of Clearwater; her grandson, Michael Kirkland (Colleen) of San Francisco, CA; brother, Robert Page (Ann) of Okemos, MI; and 10 nieces and nephews. Lynn was dearly loved by family and friends and will be greatly missed by all. We give special thanks to her wonderful caregivers and to Hospice for their loving care and attention. Memorial service to be held at 11 am, June 21 at Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, 2405 Philippe Pkwy., Safety Harbor. For inquiries call Trinity Memorial Gardens at 1-888-271-5820. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Hospice of the Florida Suncoast, 727-586-4432 or www.thehospice.org.
