Pete and I go back to 6th grade at Christ the King. He was a great individual...a standup guy who was always forthright, and ready with a smile.
One of my favorite memories was his recollection of one Basketball practice at CKS in the 7th or 8th grade. He was attempting to block me out on the play, and I somehow managed to elevate enough to kick his glasses off. Rest in peace my old friend.

Although we were 1970 classmates at Jesuit, I don't think Mark and I were ever in the same classroom together.

My favorite memories of Mark were the many times he dragged me down to Baker's Billiards after they shut down the senior lounge that used to be in the southeast corner of what is the new Admin building; it did have a pool table. Not once did I ever beat him in straight pool, and I only got him two or three times at nine ball.
Senior year we were in the Monkey Trial play "Inherit the Wind" and Mark was the judge while I played the defense attorney, so we had several good dialogue exchanges and many, many fun rehearsals late into school nights.

I was looking forward to seeing Mark at the JHS Grand Reunion in May--there were not many in our class who became high school teachers or coaches and I had hoped to compare career notes. My sincere condolences to the family; Mark was always genuine and a straight-shooter at play as well as in life. He will be missed and I treasure the time I spent with him.
